Orcas Island - Madrona Trees
An adventurous spirit, like a pilgrim of old, always seeking new lands to explore.
Orcus Island if you've never been has a magic all its own.
The Madrona trees plentiful to Orcas Island but limited in range to the Pacific Northwest call out to you with their red bark, calling you to come close. Their curving, gnarly, red almost orange trunks appear to be sculpted by the winds. They cling to the rocky cliffs ever reaching for the sky, seen bending and stretching for life. The bark peels to collect at the base of the tree revealing the smooth and lime green heart of the tree. Whenever I am near...these trees call for me to give them a hug and love them.
