In the quiet of creation...the painting begins to speak a story that wants to be told...prophecy exposing itself to humanity. Often the painting tells me what it wants to be. Symbols come forward, with a mind of their own...like a puzzle they are trying to tell me, and others who are drawn to it, that they have something to say.
Have you ever wondered what the colors are trying to say? What the symbolic meaning of the animals means? I just finished the painting below...and as I am choosing the symbols...sometimes even I am wondering what they mean...why did I choose the colors that I did...what is the painting trying to speak, what is its truth?
As I finished the painting...I asked her "What's your story? Tell me what it is you want to say."
A personal reflection as I think about how the painting came...often I am thinking it will go one way...and then it comes out different and I work with it, an idea emerges...a golden deer...black birds...crescent moons...stems coming forth from her...flowers grow and expand...the light pouring forth. I'm shocked at the brilliance of the colors. A symbolic unfolding begins...she begins to tell me what each element means...the gold, colors, animals the moons.
Just listen to the words:
Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these sunken eyes and learn to see All your life You were only waiting for this moment to be free Blackbird, fly Blackbird, fly Into the light of the dark black night
Black birds are often seen as messengers from the spirit world, guiding us through the unknown. They symbolize adaptability and the ability to move gracefully through the darkness. As spirit animals, they encourage you to trust your instincts, find your unique voice, and embrace hidden opportunities. Black birds remind us to listen inwardly and to see beyond appearances, carrying wisdom from the unseen realms.
The blackbird follows me through seasons-In song, in vision, in whispers from strangers.
It is no accident; it is a messenger. Blackbird sings of transformation, of rising from silence into voice, of stepping from the shadows into light. Each time it appears, it reminds me: the God Source is calling me to birth new life, to trust the leap into a new time, to let my heart bloom into colors of creation. The blackbird is not only a symbol...it is prophecy, carrying me forward into the place where dreams take flight. The Blackbird is a sacred messenger of new times and your own voice rising.
The Crescent Moons The crescent moon represents the phases of life-beginnings, growth, and release. It reminds us that creation is not a single act but a continual unfolding.
The Flowers
Flowers are seen as gifts from the divine, each bloom carrying unique energy. They symbolize life's cycles-birth, growth, and the fleeting beauty of existence. Spiritually, flowers embody love, joy, and the blossoming of dreams from within. Flowers remind us that creation flows from the heart, and beauty is both ephemeral and eternal. The flowers bloom from the heart, embodying love and creation.
The Colors
Green is the color of life. Renewal, growth, healing, and the life force of nature. It represents balance and the heart chakra. Pink is the vibration of unconditional love, compassion, tenderness, and emotional healing. Purple is often linked to the crown chakra and higher consciousness. It represents mysticism, intuition, and spiritual wisdom. Red is the root chakra's energy of grounding and survival. It represents vitality, passion, courage, and the spark of life. Blue is speaking spiritual clarity. It resonates with the throat chakra, encouraging authentic expression. Speak peace, speak your truth, communicate the light of love. Black in the darkness of the womb we are born, we are born of light and love. Black represents the unknown, the mystery and the fertile void from which creation emerges. Gold embodies the essence of God and higher wisdom. Filled with Joy, illumination, divine radiance, and prosperity.
In the painting the gold deer & moons are guiding us into new life,
embodying the divine light and cosmic cycles The green vines pouring forth with flowers is her living forest, renewal, and the heart's fertile ground. Each bloom is a dream birthed from love, wisdom, passion, and truth. The mystery of creation, the unseen realm that holds infinite possibility is found in the black background and the birds. As we leave 2025 which is a nine year and often seen as a cycle of completion, release, and letting go of what no longer serves. The New Year is the beginning of a new cycle. A one year, representing fresh starts, creation, and stepping into new dreams. This painting mirrors this perfectly: Black birds are carrying away the past, whispering transformation. The golden deer leaps into the new time, guiding the birth of life. The flowers bloom from the heart, embodying dreams made visible. The crescent moon reminds us that endings and beginnings are part of the same eternal rhythm. As we step out of the nine year, we release what has been. As we enter the one year, we birth what is yet to come. My painting speaks of this shift. Creation rising from the heart. She doesn't have a name yet...but I keep hearing that she is the colors of life. Until next time, my love, Johanna
